🇺🇸 I had the incredible opportunity to travel with some amazing senior leaders of the National Guard to visit our troops deployed in the Middle East. From March 14-17, Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson and Senior Enlisted Advisor Tony Whitehead visited Guardsmen who are supporting Operations Inherent Resolve and Spartan Shield across the region.
🛡️ Our Guardsmen play a vital role in maintaining stability and eradicating Islamic State terrorist groups. They answer every call with immense pride and dedication. During our visit, we witnessed firsthand their unwavering commitment to our nation.
🌍 Throughout our trip, we made eight stops in four countries, connecting with Guardsmen in isolated and austere locations. We highlighted their critical role in global operations. As the combat reserve of the Army and Air Force, the National Guard comprises 20% of the Joint Force. They truly live up to their role as fighters and protectors of our nation.
🌐 The U.S. Central Command's area of responsibility is vast, covering diverse populations with various languages, ethnicities, and religions across national borders. The region faces a volatile security situation, making our Guardsmen's contributions crucial.
