Seatrees X Waiākea

SeaTrees X Waiākea

This Earth Month, you can help us regenerate coastal watersheds in Maui, Hawai'i one square foot at a time.  This project will be in partnership with Seatrees by Sustainable Surf, a non-profit who's mission is to improve the health of the ocean globally.  We decided to partner on their project that offers conservation efforts to restore Ho'owaiwai watershed in Maliko Gulch.

One Order = One Sq Foot Restored

Throughout the month of April, Waiākea will be donating the funds to restore one square foot of land per order. Our goal is to restore 1 mile of coastal ridge to reef watershed, but in hopes of exceeding that goal. SHOP NOW

Native Plants

In collaboration with Regenerative Education Centers, they are removing invasive species and replanting with native plants to encourage the health of the land. This ensures that the plants will thrive, protect neighboring reefs and aid in erosion prevention.

Maui is a biodiverse home to many plant and animal species and has for generations been viewed as a model for living sustainably and in harmony with the 'aina (land).  But like many other regions in the world, climate change, development, and neglect over time have negatively impacted the natural environment in Maui.  This compound effect has resulted in much needed reforestation efforts in order to preserve and safe the ecosystem.

Watersheds in Hawai'i

SeaTrees and Regenerative Education Centers seek to restore and regenerate critical coastal watershed systems, or Ahupua'a, through the Ho'owaiwai Watershed Project. Focusing on the Moku (or district) Maliko Gulch and Moku of Launiupoko, Regenerative Education Centers directly works to restore the stream bed through the practice of regenerative agricultural, which then impacts the community, providing a source of organic produce, prevents erosion prevention, and protection for the neighboring reefs.

We are stoked to support these efforts and for every Waiākea order placed, you help to restore a square foot in Maliko Gulch and Launiupoko.  Drink Waiākea Hawaiian Volcanic Water now and help SeaTrees today.
