Are you wearing the wrong size shoe?

Are you wearing the wrong size shoe?

When’s the last time you had your feet measured before purchasing a new pair of shoes?

(p.s. You’re not alone! I can’t remember either. :) )

Podiatrists recommend we have our feet professionally measured every 6 months.

Here’s why.

According to a study conducted by the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, 88% of women routinely wear shoes that are too small.

Yikes!

It’s no wonder…

:: 8 out of 10 women say their shoes are painful; and

:: Women are 9 times more likely than men to develop a foot problem caused by improper fitting shoes.

We’ve all heard (or maybe experienced) that feet can change size during pregnancy, and apparently our feet continue to change shape and size throughout adulthood!

Dr. Steven Pribut, a podiatrist at George Washington University Medical Center, estimates that women over the age of 40 can gain up to half a shoe size every 10 years.

So the next time you head to the shoe store, remember to get your feet measured.

And the next time you purchase a pair of high heels, remember to add Vivian Lou Insolia weight-shifting insoles to your shoes and wear them 4x longer without pain!
