Starbucks has expanded its partnership with Californian delivery platform DoorDash, with the service expected to reach full nationwide availability by March 2023.

The Seattle-based coffee chain said the delivery service has now been launched in Florida, Georgia, Northern California, Texas. The expansion follows pilots in Atlanta, Houston and Sacramento, and additional expansion in Seattle, Portland and New York City, last year.

“As customer behaviours evolve, we continue to innovate the Starbucks Experience to connect with them through meaningful and valuable digital experiences. Our partnership with DoorDash allows us to provide our customers with another convenient way to enjoy Starbucks wherever they are. Delivery continues to represent a significant growth opportunity for Starbucks, and we’re excited to reach more customers by partnering with DoorDash, a company known for their best in-class service,” said Brooke O’Berry, Senior Vice President of Digital Experiences, Starbucks.

World Coffee Portal research indicates shows 29% of US consumers ordered a coffee shop beverage for delivery over the previous 12 months, rising to 45% for those aged under 35.

However, 37% of consumers surveyed in the Project Café USA 2023 report would order beverages for delivery if the option were more readily available across the country.

In November 2022 Starbucks reported year-on-year third quarter sales growth of 3.3% to reach a record $8.41bn.
